Aside from the obvious must haves such as diapers, wipes, car seat, etc., I have compiled a list of my favorite items that helped get me through those first two months.

You will see this on almost every single must have list out there, and for good reason! It looks disgusting, and I won’t lie to you, I sometimes gag while using it, but this item is AMAZING. It gets out way more than a bulb syringe and is much easier to clean!
After seeing many testimonies about this “manual pump,” I caved in and bought one and I can’t put this thing down. It has been a total game changer in my breastfeeding journey. If you are like me and don’t particularly enjoy pumping all the time, I highly recommend this!
3. Rainy Daze Naturals Baby Bum Balm
I was gifted this and thank goodness! My son is extremely sensitive to every butt paste I have tried and this is the first item I’ve found that works for him. He has not had a single diaper rash since we started using this and I don’t plan on ever using anything else. Trust me, it’s amazing.
Me and my son have loved this since the day we brought him home. He naps in it, he hangs out in it while I shower, and the vibration on it calms him down almost instantly. He’s 4 months old and tiny so I don’t see him growing out of it anytime soon.
These are great in the beginning for nursing and as baby grows to help them sit up. My son was very attached to me the first couple months so this definitely helped when my arms would get tired and was an absolute must have for us while we were in the hospital.
In the beginning, I did not respond well to an electric pump. I had a lot of production problems and had actually purchased this for when I needed to pump away from home. The first time I used it I produced 3 times as much as I was getting with an electric pump and it was incredibly easy to use. It is still well loved!
This is very convenient for toting diapers and wipes between different rooms. Ours also has pockets that I use for lotion, aquaphor, and the bum balm.
My son had a lot of upset tummy issues the first two months and within two weeks of every day use this product seemed to help a ton. He went from crying 75% of the day to a normal, happy baby and I partially attribute that to the probiotics.
From the beginning you will hear DREFT, DREFT, DREFT. Dreft is expensive and has fragrance in it which can be sensitive to a newborns skin, and I personally don’t care for the smell, so I opted for this. It’s much cheaper which is nice considering all the extra laundry you’ll be doing and it smells fresh and clean.
Our playmat is very well loved and covered in slobber, but so easy to wash. Since Ronan was 2 weeks old we’ve been using it for tummy time and as he’s gotten older he is able to play with the toys that hang from it and he gets a kick out of seeing himself in the mirror. This is another item I see us using for a while longer!
Apps we love: Wonder Weeks, Mamma Baby, Sleep Pillow, and Baby Center
I know as a single mom I really had to budget and depend on what I was gifted from my registry and luckily my son didn’t need a lot of fancy schmancy items to get him started in life. I hope this list helps someone out there preparing for their little one or in the first few months of raising their sweet babies!
