LIVING IN WNC

Beautiful mountain view’s, endless outdoor attractions, and having a rich history make Western North Carolina one of the best places to visit or live. No matter how many times I try to move away, I always end up here more appreciative of my home than when I left.

I live in the small town of Franklin which is close to the westernmost tip of NC. The closest place to shop for anything other than groceries is an hour away in Asheville. As horrific as that may sounds to some, it’s really not that bad and saves me a lot of money! We are also close to Gatlinburg, TN, Cherokee, and Highlands, NC which is where most of our outdoor activities take place.

I am so excited to raise my son in the same town I was raised in because our area is very family oriented! There are easy hikes with gorgeous views, Lake Glenville and Chatuge are closeby and easily accessible, and gem mining is a must for families just to name a few things!

For all of you beer drinkers out there, there is an abundance of breweries! My personal favorites include The Lazy Hiker here in Franklin and Nantahala Brewing Company in Bryson City. There are also breweries in every nook and cranny in Asheville!

Other activities around here include White Water Rafting, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, and rock climbing. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are fun as well as they are the home of Dollywood Theme Park, ole Smokey moonshine, Ripley’s Aquarium, Wonder Works, and so much more!

So now that I officially sound like a sales brochure, I think it’s time to wrap this up!

Even though I enjoy traveling, Franklin will always be home to me and I finally feel settled here again, this time with my son. We are surrounded by family and our beautiful mountains, there isn’t much more we could ask for.

If you ever find yourself in the area or wanting to know more, don’t hesitate to contact me!
