The Basics

Every baby is completely different when it comes to bottles, diapers, pacifiers, and even butt creams, but I thought I would share what I have found works for me and my little guy.

Me and my son have had a love/hate relationship with a few of these products from the very beginning, but we also had a rough start together. Now that things have settled and he is adjusted to life here on earth, we finally have it figured out, for now at least.

BOTTLES

The main bottles that we have used from the start are the Dr. Brown Original. Yes they have more parts than the average bottle, but that it what was gifted to me and what my friends swore by and sure enough that’s what my son takes. The only downfall to these bottles is they almost always explode if I put them in an insulated pocket so I’ve had to start toting my milk around in bags and transferring it to bottle when time to feed.

Though my son likes the other bottles, I’ve been trying out the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles so they are still fairly new to us, but so far he does take them. I really just wanted something that won’t explode! Right now he only takes bottles a few times a week so I will update at some point once I’ve gotten a full feel for them.

DIAPERS

We love Huggies Little Snugglers during the day because they are soft, absorbent, stretchy, and cute!

At night we use Luvs which are fantastic because they say 12 hours and they mean it. I never have to change his diaper in the middle of the night anymore and we go to bed at 8:30 and wake up around 8.

WIPES

Pampers Sensitive are great for babies with sensitive bums. I love these for when he looks like he may be getting a bit of a diaper rash.

Huggies Natural Care are great because they come in the huge packs. I also feel like they leave him feeling very clean and they aren’t soaked in product or leave a film like other wipes I’ve tried.

PACI

The only Paci I’ve been able to get him to take is the NUK (0-6m)! For some reason he gags on everything else and even now he is starting to lose interest in it.
However, we did give him a soothie in the hospital and he developed bad nipple confusion which definitely aided in our rough start, putting a dent in our early breastfeeding journey. Switching to the Nuk after a few days helped fix it as odd as that sounds.

FOR THE BOOTY

I’ve mentioned it in another post, but it’s just that good. RAINY DAZE NATURALS BABY BUM BALM from the Etsy shop Rainy Daze Naturals. It is amazing stuff and all natural. One can has lasted me 4 months already and we are only halfway through it. I use this a few diaper changes a day and my son has yet to have a bad diaper rash.

Boudreaux’s Butt Paste is another great option. I use this if it’s just more readily available than the bum balm but it works great too.

Allergies so far: Parents Choice Diapers, Desitin

My son doesn’t seem to be very picky when it comes to these items so I know I’m pretty blessed in that department. It took a few months but we finally have a routine down and a good regime that works for us!
